Music is such good therapy and over the years Ulverscroft’s Blue and Red Large Print Song Books have been invaluable for coordinators of age-appropriate activities for the elderly in care.
These days, however, limited access to pianos and the people who can play them has meant providing the music to accompany the lyrics in the Blue and Red Books has become an increasing challenge – up until now, that is.
You are now holding a complete package of large-print lyrics and studio-recorded musical tracks, played exactly the way aged-care residents will love and remember them.
These songs will be so familiar to the people in your care. The music will not only entertain them, it will engage and delight them as they sing the lyrics and walk down memory lane enjoying recollections of their younger years.
The package was the brainchild of Graeme Pope from Aged Care Music Resources, an Australian company specialising in creating music-based resources for the aged-care sector. When looking for an artist to make these timeless recordings, knowing that I had entertained elderly citizens for many years, Graeme asked me to play and record all the songs in the two books; 381 in all!
Having seen both of my own late parents in aged care, I understood the benefit of this project and commenced the mammoth recording task.
I am so pleased to know my talents are being used in the entertainment, therapy and well-being that music can provide in aged care, not only here in Australia but, hopefully, throughout the world.
