Remember That Song – Volume 1 is a music quiz for dementia activities designed to stimulate conversation and memory through familiar melodies.
How the Program Works
Each question is linked to a short musical segment from John Sidney’s piano recordings. As the music plays, the facilitator reads a simple question related to the tune, encouraging participants to share memories and engage in discussion.
Each quiz question is accompanied by a short musical segment lasting approximately 50 seconds. During this time the facilitator reads a short question linked to the music.
The music then gently fades, followed by a brief pause which allows participants time to respond and begin discussion.
If conversation develops, the facilitator can pause the program before moving on to the next question.
Designed for Dementia Activity Sessions
The quiz was developed by Ann Rogers, whose work focused on creating meaningful activities for people living with dementia.
The program is designed to stimulate conversation rather than test memory. Participants are encouraged to share thoughts, stories and associations triggered by the music.
Because each group responds differently, no two sessions are ever the same.
Flexible Session Length
Although the quiz contains 16 questions, facilitators rarely complete all questions in a single session.
Most sessions run for around 30 minutes, usually covering three to six questions, depending on how much conversation develops.
The next session simply continues from where the previous one finished.
