On the DVD, highly qualified and experienced aged care professionals reinforce the use of best-practice programs to enhance the quality of life for our elders in care.

Green Book CD Collection has become recognised as a premium activities resource which caters specifically for the needs of the Baby Boomer generation. The 200 tunes in this 10-CD collection are popular favourites from the Golden Oldies era spanning the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.

In recent times, we have seen an increase in the number of people from the Baby Boomer generation entering residential aged care homes and community-based activity groups. With its companion Green Large Print Song Book the Green Book CD collection provides the basis for hours of pleasurable listening and singing with its compilation of 200 popular tunes from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s.

Community singing groups, Senior Citizens Centres and aged care facilities alike, will appreciate the value of this CD collection, in providing a simple way to teach songs, facilitate sing-alongs on bus trips, provide music for movement, or background music to happy hour drinks or parties – the list is limited only by your imagination.

Recording artist Barry Hall was ‘Mr Music Man’ on the Channel 9 TV Children’s program. He ran the top-rated radio program ‘Choose Your Own’ on Adelaide’s radio 5DN for more than 20 years and in 2014 he awarded the Order of Australia Medal for a lifetime of service to music and entertainment.

Shall We Dance
SHALL WE DANCE FOR SEATED CLIENTS

Shall We Dance is a dance program designed for seated clients and it runs for about 30 minutes. It involves a variety of activities and can be a lot of fun for those participating.

When planning an activities program, the challenge is to find appropriate music. Full orchestral arrangements, loud voices and persistent heavy beats tend to create an atmosphere of tension.

In this program, John Sidney’s music has a gentle beat and his repertoire of old favourites provides people with opportunities to sing-along, or just relax and listen.

Movement to music is instinctive, most of us hum, tap or sway in response to a rhythm or tempo. Happy memories are revived by familiar, much- loved melodies.

Dancing is great exercise! In the forties and fifties many young people ‘went dancing’ up to three times a week. Dancing provided social opportunities to be with friends and meet new people. Many met their husbands and wives at the local dance. In those days ladies did not ‘go to the pub’, the local dance was the place to meet nice girls.

Listening to the music and joining in the movements brings back many happy memories. We also gain benefits from improving mobility of body, limbs and mind, as we follow the steps and remember the good old days.
